At Last It Ends

At last the year is comming to an end and i'm happy and greatful to God for letting me see another end of the year. I cant surmarise all that happened to me this year cos it'll be too long a surmary. All i can say is that i made tremendouse progress this year. You bet i did. This year's sallah and xmas was all fun. It was a very wonderful barka da christmas.

At this period i embark on a personal retreat to find out where i did well that requires improvement and where i didn't do well that requires discarding. I urge you to do same.
I eagerly look forward to next year cos i know next year holds so much for me. We always say that, but i believe that of next year is going to be like none other.

Merry this season you all and happy 2008. I'm out.

Dean Koontz

Dean Koontz is one writer I love reading his novels, I’ve only read a total of two. Two is a good number, I suppose. I love reading novels and I’ve read loads of them, ranging from love to crime, adventure to history and science, even children’s own. But my favorite is crime. My love for novels started way back in primary school. I’ve not read novel in years largely because I felt I was too busy. I went to Lagos and while at Ikeja I saw this man selling novels and I decided to stop and take a look. I do this most of the time but I always ended up not buying, but this day was different because I bought and not just one but two. The two were by Dean Koontz. I bought them for two reasons. One was because the writer was one of my favorite, though before then I had only read one of his works, but that one was enough to make him one of my favorite. The second reason was because the novel was cheap. Imagine a brand new original novel selling for only a 100 bucks. I never bought them because I wanted to read them. The first of his work I read was Lightning. The main theme of the book was time traveling. That was years back but the story is still very fresh in my mind. Before then I had heard about time traveling but I didn’t understand the concept.
It’s amazing the wealth of knowledge I’ve amassed from the pages of novels and it’s also amazing how much effort guys like Koontz put into researching a particular theme before putting it down in pages. When these guys write, they write as though they were authority in that field. The second work by Koontz that I read was about Artificial Intelligence(AI) and Virtual Reality(VR) and the way this guy conveyed the message and the terms he used will definitely stun even the best AIs and VRs. I read this book in the bus from Lagos (I hope some people will not see this blog cos I convinced them that I went and came back with flight) and before we got to Abuja I had finished. I couldn’t put the book down until I had finished and this only goes to confirm that this guy is now my favorite. Before I forget the name of the novel is Demon Seed. The only thing that ever distracted me from the book from time to time was the bus driver. The way the guy was driving is really had to describe for fear of starting a horror novel, but all I can say is that this young man was driving as though he had copies of duplicate lives that he couldn’t wait to end the one currently in him in order to make use of the other copies. God dey sha. The simple and short of the book is about a young beautiful lady in her thirties with loads of money leaving alone in one big mansion she inherited from her father. She was the fourth generation to live there. She lives alone because she sent parking her husband, an AI expert from the house cos the man abused her physically. Before her husband’s physical abuse, her own father had sexually and physically abused her from age 5 to 17. Can you beat that? She on her own part was a video game writer, so she was able to write a VR therapy program to help her overcome all the abuses done to her by her father. She had an automated security home, though not as good as that of Bill Gates her neighbor. An AI program written by her former husband in one university found it’s way to the internet, then her home. The AI was able to take over her security system and that was when the nightmare started. I’m yet to read the second one but I know it’ll be an interesting read because it is written by Dean Koontz, trust me.

preciate 9ja hip-hop

I love music. Ye right, who doesn’t know that by now; probably the deaf. The truth is that I love music with a passion and I cant get tired of saying it. Sometimes I wonder what life would be without music. I’m not restricted to a particular genre; I seem to enjoy every genre of music. Lets go back to the very beginning.
When I was much younger I used to listen to guys like Raskimo, Alex O, Orits Wiliki, Lucky Dube, Chaka Chaka, etc. But as the years went by I listened more to western rap music and almost forgot about our own Nigerian music. But all that changed in mid 2006 when I decided to really listen to Ruggedman’s thy kingdom come album, two years after it was released. Listening to that album made me pay more attention to Nigerian music and it’s amassing how fast the local industry has grown since then. I remain grateful to Rugged for bringing me back home just as i'm greatful to Morinho for making me like football; that's a topic for another day. You can’t believe the large collection of 9ja songs I have today on my laptop.
Today I’ll be reviewing some Nigerian rap artists that I’ve listened to their album based on my order of preference.
Number one on my list is Ruggedman.

I love his two albums. The guy’s delivery on the mic is superb. I get to hear and understand every word he spits both on his track and when featured. I like the way he switches styles on his track and none of his tracks sounds alike. In short there is no dull moment on ruggedman’s track and the guy does great justice to producer’s beat. He has this unique voice that needs no introduction. And never think of battling the rugged cos the guy can decide to release a 20 track album to diss you.

Number 2 is Gino.

Though new on the block but this dude is amazing. He is the only one on my order of preference that really gives rugged a good run for his money. I sometimes call him Nigerian Jarule, though he does not have Jarule voice but he most definitely has the attitude and the hieght and his voice is good and unique. His album I can assure u is very addictive. His track that seems like I cant enough of is player’s way. When you listen to Gino, it's like you're kind of taken into his world, his experiences, his pains and confessions like he did in the track pain plus work. And for those of you that think he came up too fast and wont last, you better start thinking again cos Gino is here to stay.

Number three is OD.

This guy is hardcore but mainstream lovers wont get bored by this guy cos he’s good.

My number four is Mode 9.

He’s got this unique voice and style. Modey is very good with metaphors and lyrics that has profound meaning but the reason he’s not my number one is cos, if I listen to a mode 9 album, I observe that he maintains the same style of rap in all the tracks. He doesn’t switch styles. The only thing that change is the beat and wording and that tends to get me bored. Haven seen him anchor the lyricist on soundcity, I think I kind of understand why he does the kind of music he does. He is fully persuaded that’s how real hip-hop is done. But no doubt he’s a terrific artist and I hope he’ll one day do a dance track for a change.

Number five is Sauce Kibaba.

The guy is good on the mic and he switches styles in his tracks and I have no problem with the fact that he sounds very yankeesh cos that’s where he at. Yebariba!! I love u men.

Other rap artist I like their works are FreeStyle, Terry da Rapman, Jafar, Abounce, Alabi. I also like some up and coming like Gangsta, MI, Neato C, Alaye, Silly.

FreeStyle being the current king of hip hop in Nigeria and despite how good he is couldn’t make it to my top 5 cos of his voice. His voice is too light for a male rap artist. He’s very good but the voice also plays a very important role. For those of u that might not like my review, go do yours

Japan will replace the internet

I’m a subscriber to codeproject news letters and of all the news letters they sent to me, the one that intrigued me the most was the one on Japan’s plan to replace the internet as revealed by Japanese communications minister Yoshihide Suga. We all know that virtually all human activity of today is internet compliant. The commercial www internet of today emerged from the effort of two private networks, the ARPAnet and the NSFnet. But this was only in 1990 at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). Which means the commercial internet of today is only seven years old. In the last few years the internet has grown astronomically to the extend that we in the third world are finding it really difficult keeping up with the pace. The extract from the source claims that the minister said an organization will be set up as early as this fall with cooperation from businesses, academia and government offices for promoting the technology when the Internet is seen to be faced with increasing constraints in achieving higher throughputs of data as well as ensuring data security. The envisaged network is expected to ensure faster and more reliable data transmission, and have more resilience against computer virus attacks and breakdowns. The ministry is hoping Japan will take a lead in development of post-Internet technology and setting global standards, a move that ministry officials believe would help make Japanese companies competitive in the global market for hardware and software using such technology.
Expectedly people have been reacting to this. The reaction ranges from insightful to absurd. I’ll give you a few reaction from some contributors after which I’ll give you mine.
1. “Just make all of the new celphones, ps3's, and consoles work on the new network and you're set... at least in Japan. Since celphones cycle out so quickly in Japan, thanks to their trendsetting ways, switching over to their new faster, more powerful, internet will be a breeze.”
2. “dont think they are referring to IPv6... and i really hope they are not... I hope they come up with a totally new architecture... high time we shifted away from IP”
3. i have been told by an insider that it will be based on pigeons flying with bits of paper that look like this "101010101010010" between people
now this is absurd.
1. “You gotta be kidding me! that means changing the entire world! ow, will my ps3 still work then?”
I forgt to tell u that some were funny.

Wanna know what I think? I think innovation is a good thing. Imagine what life will be today without all tech stuffs we have around today. I cant imagine how our fore fathers lived in the past. So the Jap guys have my vote.

DONT START IF YOU CANT FINISH

The month of August is almost coming to an end and I haven’t made any post for the month. Shame on me. Though not making the post has not been entirely my fault, because each day when I pick my laptop to work with, when I remember I have to make a post I just lost it. This is because I find it difficult deciding on the issue to blog about. I ask myself, Should I be blogging about the happenings in the entertainment circle or the political circle. Sometimes I thought blogging about sports and my favorite team was better. On a second thought I said no. Or better still I think blogging about so many things that I’m doing that I sometimes wonder if I’ll ever be able to piece them all together could be a wonderful idea. So many issues I have to resolve before blogging, and you cant believe that blogging is just one little aspect of a whole lot of things I do. The question now is if it takes me so long to resolve the little one like blogging, how long does it take me to resolve the big ones ? You have to know me personally to find out. This is really amazing. I finally settled for something less and it’s all about not starting if you cant finish. Yes, don’t start if you cant finish. Doing this(not starting if I know I cant finish) has pitched me against many, especially those very close to me. This has even made some call me selfish even when I know I’m very generous person, trust me cos I know I am. But the truth is that I’ve always allowed my conscience to be my judge. If my conscience acquits me, no body can find me guilty. Some people start something without knowing the consequences if they stop half way. I’ve seen people start a fight or quarrel without waiting to find out if they are in a position to carry on to the end. If you are not the person with the position of advantage, why engage somebody in a fight or quarrel ? My elder sister regards me as selfish simply because I know most of what she want me to do for her, but refuse to do them. I’ve told her time without number that my motives are purely harmless. I know that if I do them a couple of times and stop later, she’ll hate me more for it.
I try as much as possible not to learn from my mistakes, but to learn from that of others. An uncle of mine who was highly liked and respected by one of my cousins made the mistake of giving my cousin money a couple of time, but when he decided to stop, the young man hated and despised my uncle for that. He would have still retained his respect and love if he hadn’t made the mistake of initiating the act of magnanimity. But despite all my knowledge of not starting if you cant finish, I still went ahead and started a blog that requires me making at least a monthly post. I’m I sure I can sustain it. Time will tell.

MY FIRST POST

My first post is definitely not going to have anything to do with programming, coding or any thing IT. It will also not have anything to do with entertainment. This is because coding and entertainment was not the first thing I found myself doing when I became conscious of myself. The first thing I can remember doing when I was small was being conscious of my environment and trying to relate with those around me. So my first post is going to be about relationships.
It’s important to have relationship with people, both within your family and outside your family. When I find myself in a new environment, I try to study the people around in order to find out who I can relate with. Over the years I’ve made wise relationship decision. Such decisions has led to my relationship with people like Anthony Elisha (Tonero), Joseph Obaje (Bigjoemayocis), Essien Eyo (Etubom), Cajetan Obi (C J), Abdulzayad Yusuf (Zaza) and so many others that I cant mention now. So for those of you that have been left out, it’s because I don’t want to bore who ever is reading this with the names of my friends. One thing you should always look out for in a person before deciding if you can make that person a friend is to ask yourself, from all you’ve seen of this person, can he or she improve your life in any way. If yes, then go ahead and make that person a friend. The main reason I started this post is because of a man that is having so much influence in my life right now. This person presently is a great source of motivation to me and to those around him. He spurred me into opening this blog in the first place. The man is no other person than the general overseer ofJoshua Generational Ministries International , Prophet David Edobor. What I admire most in this young, great man of God is that, the fact that I am not a member of his church has not been an obstacle to his assisting me in any way possible. This he also extends to everybody that come his way. One other thing I admire in this man of God is his desire to empower so many young people around him. For now I intend stopping here, but I’ll definitely take up a topic soon on leadership and he is going to be the focal point. Then you’ll get to know what it means to lead by example.
